Yellow Cab Houston & Taxis Fiesta present 15th annual HLAGH Bike Build

HLAGHBikeBuild2014-5

Dozens of Houston hotels and allied members gathered in Hall A3 of the George R. Brown Convention Center for the Hotel & Lodging Association of Greater Houston’s (HLAGH) annual bike building event. Benefiting Child Advocates and the HLAGH, 25 teams were each tasked with building two bikes for deserving kiddos involved with the Child Advocates program. There was a competition to see which team could build their bikes the fastest while simultaneously creating a holiday card to give each child. After passing a safety inspection, teams were invited to the stage for a quick picture and then it was off to the relay race! Team members had to compete by jumping rope, bouncing on a “hippity hop”, and balancing a wiffle ball as they dashed across the hall.

Pancho Claus and his posse even stopped by with the Taxis Fiesta lowrider full of toys for the children. Fun holiday games were set up to entertain the little ones before the bike building fun began!  Hall A3 was truly transformed into a winter wonderland.

Yellow Cab Houston brought its 1927 antique model T taxi and promo Jeep for photo opportunities. Attendees enjoyed delicious refreshments from Aramark and holiday tunes from Freeman Audio Visual.

Yellow Cab Houston Sponsors the 18th Annual HLAGH Golf Tournament

YellowCabGolfBall

Yellow Cab Houston was proud to sponsor the driving range and 16th hole at yesterday’s Hotel & Lodging Association of Greater Houston’s (HLAGH) 18th Annual Golf Tournament. Held at the scenic BlackHorse Golf Club in Cypress, golfers gathered early in the morn to practice their swing with the chance to hit our offline Yellow Cab. At a solid 225 yards, anyone who hit the cab won a $50 TaxiCard. Three golfers managed to accept the challenge and claim the prize; the cab didn’t stand a chance! **if you squint at the picture above, you can spot the cab far in the distance**

After tee time at 10am, golfers began the tournament at both the North and South courses. Throughout each course, various Houston hotels hosted food tastings featuring their chefs’ most delectable creations. After a cold and windy warm up, the sun came out and provided the perfect climate for a day on the green.

Marketing reps David and Stephanie enjoyed socializing with the players as they swung long drives from both the driving range and the 16th hole. Andre represented Yellow Cab in the tournament, wowing with his 275 yard drive.

Yellow Cab Houston Sponsors HLAGH’s Annual Bike Building Event for 8th Year

YellowCabHoustonTeam

Yellow Cab Houston realizes the value and impact of a helping hand and that’s why nearly 24 Yellow Cab employees pitched in to build bikes for the Hotel & Lodging Association of Greater Houston’s (HLAGH) 13th Annual Bike Building event this past Monday December 3rd.

Yellow Cab supplied 52 bikes for the build and had four teams participating to create a total of 8 bikes which were given to children involved with Child Advocates here in Houston. The children watched excitedly as teams built their new set of wheels.

Thanks to the HLAGH and all 26 teams and sponsors involved, 52 children were given the gift of transportation this Christmas.

In addition to the bike building competition, teams also created holiday cards to give the children as well as watching fellow team members compete in a challenging yet entertaining relay race.

This Saturday, a team of 30 will be representing Yellow Cab Houston at the Elves & More  Bike Build, where over the course of a week nearly 10,000 bikes will be built and distributed to schools throughout the greater Houston Area who participate in the Elves & More Bicycle Program.
