Sutliff & Stout, PLLC plans to encourage people not to drink and drive by offering free Yellow Cab rides on Halloween night.
Nationally, 38% of fatal crashes during Halloween night involved a driver or motorcyclist with a blood alcohol content of 0.08 or higher. Drunk drivers accounted for 23% of pedestrian fatalities on Halloween.
“Harris County leads the nation in drunk-driving crashes, and according to Mothers Against Drunk Driving, 31% of fatal crashes on Saturdays and Sundays are alcohol-related, compared to 13% on weekdays,” says Hank Stout, co-founder of Sutliff & Stout, PLLC. “With Halloween falling on a Saturday this year for the first time since 2009, we want to give drivers an incentive to make the right choice not to drive if they are out drinking Saturday night.”
Sutliff & Stout, PLLC will reimburse cab rides taken between 5:00 p.m. Saturday, October 31 and 6:00 a.m. Sunday, November 1 in the Houston metro area up to $30 via a PayPal account.
