This past Saturday, team #yellowcabcares joined thousands for the annual LGBT Pride Houston Celebration Parade in Montrose. Friends and employees tossed koozies, squishy cabs and beads to the crowd of spectators as our great city celebrated its LGBT community. As Houston’s largest taxi fleet, Yellow Cab Houston‘s HAIL A CAB app was YOUR RIDE FOR PRIDE! HAIL A CAB® Houston is now available for download internationally!

Great news for travelers visiting Houston from abroad, the HAIL A CAB® app can now be downloaded by Apple products internationally. With thousands of tourists coming to Houston each year, we welcome those visiting and strive to make their Yellow Cab Houston trip a quality experience.

If you are arriving to Houston, Texas from outside of the United States, you can now download the HAIL A CAB® app for free and use it to find and book the nearest cab in Houston. The app also lets you view nearby taxi stands in Houston and surrounding hotels in the area.

Whether you are headed to your hotel, the airport, or anywhere around town, summoning a taxi has never been more convenient; you can pay with a credit card stored in the app, no wallet necessary! If you’re unfamiliar with the Houston area, our GPS system allows you to request a taxi closest to you with the tap of a button. Track your cab in real time as it heads to pick you up and schedule future pick ups as well.

The HAIL A CAB® app is free for international users in their regional Apple App Store and coming soon to Google Play international stores.

Yellow Cab Houston Sponsors HYPA HYPA Burnin’ Love Gala

This past Saturday Yellow Cab Houston teamed up with the Houston Young Professionals for the Arts for its annual Gala. This year’s affair, “HYPA HYPA Burnin’Love”, took place at the Houston Ballet Center for Dance with a delightfully theatrical Elvis theme.

Yellow Cab sponsored the event, bringing out its antique taxi for photo ops while guests sipped on libations provided by Republic Tequila, Dripping Springs Vodka and Saint Arnold Brewing Company. Guests dined on a savory buffet provided by Sambuca, while an Elvis impersonator made the rounds impressing the crowd with his moves.

Lindsey Brown and Kristy Bradshaw, Co-founders of Ballet Barre, were honored at the event for their dedication to the arts.

Attendees loved posing for the Monsterbooth, taking home photos as a memento from the wonderful evening.

Yellow Cab also hosted an Instagram contest where attendees were invited to snap pics with the antique taxi or at the Monsterbooth and tag @yellowcabhouston. The winner received a $150 TaxiCard to use in any Yellow Cab across Houston, Austin, San Antonio or Galveston. HAIL A CAB app tips for Catching a Cab on New Year’s Eve in Houston

Yellow Cab Houston is our city’s largest taxi fleet  but sometimes it can be tough to catch a ride on the busiest night of the year.

It’s great to know that so many Houstonians are thinking responsibly and it is our goal that Yellow Cab independent contractor drivers provide the best transportation services possible.

Here are some tips for catching a Yellow Cab on New Year’s Eve:

1)    We recommend that you book your trip on our free HAIL A CAB™ app to track your cab once your trip has been accepted.   You will be able to monitor the taxi in real time as it approaches your location. The cab number will be displayed as well, so it is easier to spot your designated vehicle.  You can download HAIL A CAB™ 3.0 on iTunes or HAIL A CAB™ on Google Play.

2) Book early– If you have an idea of when you’d like to leave for the party, book your trip in advance using our HAIL A CAB™ app.  Give yourself a little extra time because wait times could be longer than normal.

3) Leave before peak times– HAIL A CAB™ before 9:30pm when demand is lower than, say, 10pm or 11pm. (of course, peak times may vary).

4) For a return trip get your independent contractor driver’s business card so that you can call them directly to be picked up. Better yet, map out a particular time and place where you will meet your taxi driver*. While they may be servicing others and may not be available if you don’t coordinate in advance, it is helpful to have his or her contact information for scheduling future trips and pickups.

Yellow Cab Houston sponsors Woodlands Walk Like MADD®

Last weekend Yellow Cab Houston sponsored Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD’s) third annual “Woodlands Walk Like MADD®” event. The 5k “MADD dash” and walk took place at North Shore Park. Attendance doubled from last year with over 500 registered walkers and participants filling the scenic park on a sunny Saturday morn.

Yellow Cab and its affiliates were invited to park vehicles on Law Enforcement Row among State Trooper vehicles, Blood Alcohol Testing (BAT) vans and various other local patrols. The event was filled with tents of local law enforcement agencies, families celebrating the lives of loved ones and local health and safety vendors. Children were invited to get their faces painted, jump around in the bounce house and enjoy the many family-friendly activities and resources.

“We really try to make it a celebration for people’s loved ones,” says Heather Smith, special events manager for Southeast Texas MADD. “It’s fun, but also driven by our mission. People not only get the chance to know the cause, but also come to enjoy the atmosphere.”

Team Yellow Cab Cares boasted nearly 20 members, including employees, friends, family and our team partners. Yellow Cab Houston is proud to have a company full of caring individuals who spend their free time supporting local causes. A huge thanks to SpeedPro Imaging North Houston for always supporting our community efforts!

Many attendees came by the Yellow Cab Houston booth to pick up squishy cabs and fill out a red memorial ribbon. Attendees were invited to write the name(s) of a loved one who had lost their life or been affected by a drunk driver on a ribbon and place it on the promotional Jeep. The memorial ribbons will remain on the Jeep as a powerful reminder of those affected by someone’s poor decision-making.

Yellow Cab Houston is proud to partner with MADD and support its efforts to eliminate drunk driving.  Marketing Representative Stephanie has had the pleasure of speaking on panels presented by the organization to help inform the community of the convenience of taking a cab as a smarter alternative to drinking and driving.
